Savannah James on the three-city life behind LeBron's 76ers start
Savannah James says LeBron's move to the 76ers means splitting time across LA, New York and Philadelphia as Philly takes a 7-1 start to Detroit.

LeBron James is giving the Philadelphia 76ers the start they hoped for, and his wife is the one managing the family logistics behind it. Savannah James stayed in Los Angeles after her husband signed with Philadelphia this summer. On the Nov. 3 episode of the "Baby, This Is Keke Palmer" podcast, she said this season has her splitting time among three cities.
The New York Post reported that James signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the 76ers and is living in New York for now, commuting to Philadelphia. Savannah called New York the family's hub, with Los Angeles and Philadelphia making up the other two cities. Their daughter Zhuri, 12, is in school in Los Angeles. Bryce plays college basketball at Arizona, so Tucson is on the travel map too. "The crazy in my life is the fact that I have to figure out how to be in three places at once," Savannah said on the podcast, as quoted by the Post.
People reported that she described the scheduling as close to a full-time job and said one thing going wrong can throw off her whole day. Complex focused on how she framed the change. She called the Philadelphia move an adjustment that will work out, and said that in an earlier stage of her life she would simply have packed up the house and followed him. This time the family gave Zhuri a say in the decision. That is a break from his stops in Cleveland, Miami and Los Angeles, when the whole family moved with him.
The split has not kept her away from the arena. People reported she and Zhuri were at his home debut against Cleveland on Oct. 22. On the court, the arrangement has caused no visible problems. The 76ers have won seven of their first eight games and come in on a four-game winning streak.
What it means for Detroit
Philadelphia's next game is Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons are the only team to beat the 76ers this season. Detroit won 106-93 in Philadelphia, and the 76ers scored fewer points that night than in any other game this year. They have been sharper since, beating Indiana and Charlotte on the road, edging New York 98-93 in an NBA Cup group game and beating Chicago 126-107 on Monday night. Five of their seven wins came by single digits, and only the Milwaukee and Chicago games were decided by double figures.
The Pistons are favored. Detroit is -120 on the moneyline at Novig, one of 12 venues on this site's board for the game, and Philadelphia is +115 there. On the spread, Novig lists the 76ers at +2.5 for -106 and Detroit at -2.5 for +102. The best Detroit spread price elsewhere is BetRivers at -1.5 for -113, a shorter line at a higher cost. Novig's total is 218.5, with the over at +102 and the under at -106. DraftKings has the best over anywhere at 217.5 for -110. The venues sit close together. Sportsbook hold runs from 2.8% to 4.9% on the moneyline and 2.9% to 5.2% on the spread, and the totals across venues are only a point apart.
The road game in Detroit is the first chance to see if the 76ers can turn around their only loss. Savannah will be tracking it from somewhere among Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia.
